Montclair State University’s Cheer and Dance Teams are Preparing For Nationals

The Student Rec Center Gym was packed on Sunday, as the university’s cheer and dance teams, showcased their moves for Nationals. Friends, family, and the campus community attended .

“I’m excited and nervous,” said cheerleader Vicki Mcallister. “We’ve been working really hard.”

Cheer and dance have been practicing for the event for months, and both teams, will be heading to Daytona Beach, Florida on April 2nd for the competition.

This will also be the first year that the cheer’s coed team will be heading to Nationals as well.

“I think coed has a very good chance at placing,” said team member Jason Kuzman. “Our goal is to place top 5 out of 17 teams and win.”

The dance team is also looking forward to the Florida trip.

“I’m excited to watch my team perform,” said Paige Suchoff. Suchoff is an alternate dancer for the team. This will be her first trip to Nationals.

For other dancers. such as Helen Mccafferty, it will be their las time competing at Nationals.

“It’s going to be really sentimental, being on the stage,” said Mccafferty.

Nationals begin on April 4th.
