Montclair State University Celebrates Annual Red Hawk Night

Written by on September 21, 2026

On September 18, Montclair State students packed the Student Center from 9 p.m. to 12 a.m. for the annual Red Hawk Night. Each guest received a passport and had to complete activities around the building to collect stamps for a shot at winning a plush Rocky the Red Hawk.

The Student Center was filled to the brim with activities hosted by various student organizations, including karaoke, tote bag decorating, mini golf, s’mores, snacks, games, photo booths, crafts, and fun for freshmen, sophomores, juniors, and seniors alike.

Madison Kodrich, a senior public relations and social media major, spent her night working with Resident Life for her second year as a community programmer at the event. “I think Red Hawk Night is a really great event,” she said. “Before working, I was testing out the karaoke. I’m a big karaoke fan.”

Erin Reuter, a freshman communication and media major, enjoyed her first Red Hawk Night. “I like the food, and the cup pong at 1908, that was fun,” she said. “I’m looking forward to keychains and mugs and s’mores.”

1908 also served an exclusive mocktail for Red Hawk Night. The Fishbowl was a blue raspberry mocktail with Nerds candy at the bottom and gummy sea creatures swimming around, served in a plastic fishbowl. Four lucky students with smiley faces on the bottom of their drinks received a prize.

Anastasia Kafetzis, a freshman accounting major, shared her thoughts on the event. “I’m really having a lot of fun,” she said. “I’m looking forward to karaoke.”

The night ended with students lined up in the cafeteria to get their Rocky plushes. “I liked all the events,” said Reuter.
