The Cab Reminded Everyone Exactly What They Have Been Missing

There is a specific kind of energy that comes with seeing a band you have never heard before (other than the hits, shoutout Destiel) and leaving a completely different person. That is what The Cab did at Starland Ballroom in Sayreville, New Jersey on June 26th. By the end of the night, the room was full of people who already knew every word, and at least one person who was discovering them for the first time.
The set opened with “Ultima Ratio Regum” and “Locked and Loaded,” setting the tone immediately. “Temporary Bliss,” “Back From the Dead,” and “Bad” kept the crowd locked in through the first stretch of the set, and by “Sweet Kerosene” and “La La” it was clear this room had been waiting a long time for this show.
Then came the medley. A run through Backstreet Boys, Britney Spears, and NSYNC dropped the entire venue into pure nostalgia. It was the kind of moment that stops being about the band for a second and becomes about everyone in the room at once.
“Stand Up,” “These Are the Lies,” and “Vegas Skies” into “I’ll Run” brought things back before “Intoxicated,” “Take My Hand,” and “Bounce” pushed the energy back up through the final stretch of the main set. Sam Miller joined for “Living Louder,” which was a highlight in a night that was already full of them.
The encore delivered “YUKON” into a cover of Justin Bieber’s “One of Those Nights,” then “Endlessly,” before closing with “Angel with a Shotgun.” It was a perfect ending to a set that felt like a gift to everyone in that room, longtime fans and first-timers alike.
