Ericdoa is a 21-year-old hyperpop artist who seamlessly blends pop-rock and digicore sounds.

The beginning of 2024 marked the start of Ericdoa’s second international tour, Dead On Arrival Tour, following the release of his newest album DOA. As a fan of his since 2021, I bought tickets to his Philadelphia show as soon as they were released. Although standing on line in the cold for two hours was definitely not fun, the concert itself made it worth it.

The opener for Dead On Arrival is another hyperpop artist by the name of Bixby. He crushed his set with songs such as “endlessly,” “dying to see you” and “don’t make me.” I had only heard a couple of his songs before watching him perform, but I left the Fillmore as a new Bixby fan. Bixby is an extremely talented performer and I hope to see him in concert again soon!

Ericdoa opened the concert with “kickstand,” one of my personal favorites of his. It’s an extremely energetic song and immediately had the crowd jumping around. Ericdoa is so fun to watch perform because you can truly see how much fun he is having. In between songs, he spoke to the crowd as if he was performing a standup comedy routine, and even took a short break to play charades with Bixby on stage.

Some standout tracks from his performance were “the cake is a lie” and “primadonna.” The energy in the venue was crazy and Ericdoa had the crowd screaming every word.

My favorite part of his set was the closing mashup of “fantasize” and “movinglikeazombie.” Instead of the usual electronic-sounding instrumentals, the songs were stripped back to only guitar, drums, and Ericdoa’s voice. The mashup felt nostalgic, as both of these songs were released in 2020 and 2021 when I first became a fan of his.

I was able to catch up with Ericdoa after the show and ask him what his favorite part about performing was. He said that seeing all of his fans was the best feeling in the world. It’s very clear how passionate he is about performing and I can’t wait to see how the second half of his tour goes!
