Saturdays at your place performed alongside Riley! And Carpool opening for Prince Daddy & The Hyena at Asbury Park’s House of Independents on July 9, 2024.
Rochester, New York-based Carpool kicked off the night with a crazy and energetic set. I was only vaguely familiar with their music before the show, but I have now had their recent album My Life In Subtitles on repeat since leaving the venue. They got the crowd energized and ready for the night ahead, with their lead singer even jumping into the pit during their last song.

Next up was the band Riley! and to say I was excited was an understatement. Their set consisted of songs from their most recent album, Keep Your Cool, including “777,” “Bad Boys Boxing Club,” and “Die Mad.” I was insanely hyped to see these guys live, and they did not disappoint one bit.

After discovering “tarot cards” from a TikTok video not too long ago, Saturdays at your place have quickly become one of my new favorite bands. Getting to yell “I don’t wanna go home yet, I don’t wanna go home,” with an entire crowd of people during “it’s always cloudy in kalamazoo” was a core memory for sure. The only thing that confused me about them was their sincere liking for pumping their own gas (saying this in New Jersey is crazy, but really funny). Other than that, I had the time of my life during their set and I can’t wait to catch them on future tours in the
area.

Even when I thought the night couldn’t get any better, Prince Daddy & The Hyena took the stage. Their set can simply be summed up into one word–woah! The energy exuding from the crowd throughout the rest of the night was crazy in the best way possible. Many pits were opened, a few crowdsurfers were in the air, and it was a whole lot of fun.
