Canadian pop-rock legends Marianas Trench brought their Force of Nature Tour to Irving Plaza for a sold out show on September 27, 2024.
The night began with opening performances from Chinese-American pop artist Piao and the iconic Cassadee Pope. This was my first time hearing of Piao and I was blown away by how beautiful her voice and songwriting was. When it comes to Cassadee Pope, it’s a name that everybody in the scene knows and loves. She is insanely talented and did a fantastic job at gearing up the crowd for an amazing night ahead.
After the speakers blasted through the venue with “Thunderstruck” by AC/DC, Marianas Trench finally took the stage. They opened with “A Normal Life” from their brand new album Haven which set the tone for an incredible evening. Their stage set-up was also fantastic and really creative. It was made to resemble the Haven album cover, and overall made the album feel like it was coming to life on the stage.
Getting to see this band live was an absolute dream. I’ve been a huge fan of their music since I was in middle school and to hear some of my favorite songs from that time live all these years later was truly special. My favorite song of theirs has always been “Here’s to the Zeros” and
hearing it live made me appreciate the song even more!
Lead singer Josh Ramsey even got in the crowd at various points in the night. From hopping on the barricade to actually walking through the audience, he and the rest of the band spent the entire night making sure those watching their performance had the time of their lives. Marianas Trench put on a spectacular show to a sold out New York City crowd that was full of memorable and incredible moments. I’m excited to see what the future holds for such an iconic, timeless band.
