Blondshell’s “Violins” brings Teitelbaum’s best work yet

Alternative rock-artist Sabrina Mae Teitelbaum, better known as “Blondshell” has once again expanded her playlist with her third album named “Violins.” This follows her first album titled after herself in 2023 and “If You Asked for a Picture” in 2025. It’s another addition to her growing catalog of alternative rock music.
This brand new 11-track album, released on September 25th, 2026, explores themes of friendship, identity and personal change while maintaining her guitar-driven style that has become the center of Blondshell’s music. Produced by Yves Rothman, Los Angeles based record producer and songwriter who’s a long time collaborator of Teitelbaum, “Violins” features a mix of alternative, indie, and post-punk influences. Post punk-group Gang of Four, indie-rock band Teenage Fanclub and Australian rock group “The Go-Betweens” are at the forefront of the musical influences felt throughout the album through the combination of post-punk elements.
Rather than focusing solely on romantic relationships, the album examines different types of personal connections and experiences. The variety of subjects gives the album a broader focus rather than a traditional breakup record. Some songs focus on the difficulty of maintaining connections, while others focus on acceptance and the process of letting go and moving forward. Teitelbaum uses her own personal experiences as well as normal emotional pains to captivate the audience in many of her songs, allowing the album to shift between emotional and reflective feelings.
Teitelbaum’s vocals are what drives this album home. Her usual direct delivery serves as a complimentary piece to the personal nature of the songs’ lyrics, while the instrumentation divides the quieter and heavier emotions of the album. This combination allows for the songs to address the message that her 11-track album conveys, which is her still figuring out what her future looks like, but continuing to encourage the listeners. The guitars create a strong foundation for her vocals, while changes in tempo and arrangement give individual songs their own character. The improved productions allows for the music to shift without transitioning away from Blondshell’s ace in the hole style.
This change of songwriting highlights Teitelbaum’s development as a music artist. Since her self-titled first album in 2023, Blondshell has continued to expand on her work by expanding the subjects she addresses in her music. “Violins” combines personal experiences with multiple styles of rock music, resulting in an album that explores differing themes in a way that’s unique in song-writing but similar in how the song-writing is presented.
“Violins” has already received positive feedback just a week into its release. Some listeners are praising the shift in Blondshell’s song-writing and a broader connection to the audience; others shift towards the heavier guitar sounds and expanded influences from other rock bands. Some highlight the shift from a primary focus on relationships to the exploration of other emotional genres. It’s evident that Blondshell’s third and brand new album has generated a lot of buzz from new and returning listeners. With its mix of personal experiences, influences and differing storytelling tropes, “Violins” adds another chapter to Teiterbaum’s successful music career.
