From not leaving the house to now burning it down, Paramore has re-entered the music scene with the cover of all covers. Released on January 31st, 2024, the band’s cover of “Burning Down the House” by the Talking Heads hit the public. Paramore is the first band to release a cover that is a part of the tribute album, Stop Making Sense, produced by the entertainment company, A24. Miley Cyrus, Lorde, The Linda Lindas will all feature on this massive collaborative project that is bound to get a few heads talking.

Paramore manages to check all the boxes, once again, when it comes to creating a hard-hitting tune. Lead singer Hayley Williams is easily one of the most powerful female vocalists of this generation by far, and she proves it with her vocal range on this track. From deep rasps to voice-cracking screams, Williams does not hold back when it comes to showcasing her talent.

Accompanying Williams’ vocals are the classic sounds that make Paramore, Paramore. Sharp drums, celestial background noises, and funky guitar solos all have their place in this impressive cover of such a classic track. Keeping consistent with the recognizable Talking Heads sound, Paramore manages to combine both their iconic take on the alternative genre with the timeless 80’s style of Stop Making Sense, and create an instant beloved cover.

This now three time Grammy award winning band has consistently raised the bar for themselves in terms of creativity and expression. Paramore has been one of my favorite bands since my early middle school years, and I am so pleased to see them pumping out powerful tracks that dominate the charts all these years later. In my opinion, they have definitely set a high bar for the other artists yet to be featured… Hopefully this cover is just a taste of what is in store for us Paramore fans in 2024!
