Harrison Gordon Blow The Stone Pony Out of The Water with Mom Jeans and Sobs

Opener: Sobs

I recall walking into The Stone Pony overjoyed with excitement. The lights were set bright and in a multitude of colors, almost all resulting in a blue tint. Sobs came on before Harrison Gordon, and to say they were fantastic is an understatement. They had amazing stage presence and knew how to talk to a crowd. From the lead singer’s voice, the drums, the guitars, and light design, they were spectacular. I love how the lead singer, Celine Autumn, stood on stage with such an overwhelmingly belonging presence. They were bold with their vocals as well as strong in just overall communication with the audience and band. Both the lead and rhythm guitarist were exceptional as well; they were filled with light and just such a bright aura that made not only listening to them but watching them enjoyable. Overall, my first impression of this band was a positive one. Their songs have since been added to my playlist! Their best sung song on that day was definitely “Girl” from their EP Catflap, which I have since found out is their most popular on Spotify. The music overall was enjoyable to listen to, but the stage presence took them to the moon.

Opener: Harrison Gordon

As well as Sobs, Harrison Gordon was exceptional within the essence of stage presence. They both have different styles in music but such explosive presence. Harrison Gordon as a whole meshed so well together, and you could really feel the positive connection between them through the harmony in their elements of music. My personal favorite part of my first live experience with them was hearing new music from their newest album Bliss. As a whole, they expressed emotions through strong vocals, loud focused drumming, and compatible guitar. I could feel the vibrations of their exceptionally bright music through the barcade in front of me. I am 100 percent convinced that if I had a chance to see them live again, I would take it.

Mom Jeans

Now, taking all factors into account, Mom Jeans checked all the boxes in their performance. As well as playing popular songs, they played a great handful of fan favorites and lesser known songs. They encapsulated the stage in a bubble of connection through each other and their love of music. Their stage setup and presence as well was exceptional. From the lighting to the joy on their faces while performing, all I wanted to do was dance. I loved how they connected with the crowd through small conversations between songs as well as jokes, one-liners, and adlibs. They were a joy to see live and one of the best live experiences I have had in a long time. They even played a new unreleased song. Keep an eye out, because it was truly spectacular in the sense that it kept the same typical Mom Jeans style while focusing on new elements in song creation and changes in their vocals. It was truly one of the best songs to date from them.

Venue: The Stone Pony

It’s impossible to have a bad thing to say about The Stone Pony. The venue was run so professionally and still allowed for safe concert fun; from crowd surfing to dancing to jumping, The Stone Pony provided a safe space for it all. I would not have wanted to experience such a stacked lineup in any other venue. Their lighting is out of this world, as well as how consistently wonderfully run it is. The sound felt like a perfectly constructed amphitheater. Thank you to The Stone Pony for providing me with the best concert experience I have ever had.
