BROOKLYN, NY- WWE invaded the Barclays Center on Friday for their weekly show, Friday Night SmackDown. Fans in attendance got not one SmackDown episode but two, due to WWE traveling to Saudi Arabia for the Crown Jewel Premium Live Event this weekend.
The night kicked off with a dark match featuring Blair Davenport taking on Michin. Michin picked up the victory to get the crowd warmed up for an amazing night of action. Up next was a WWE speed match for the weekly X show WWE Speed. Fans saw Akira Tozawa pin Riley Osbourne of NXT to pick up the win. Then, it was time for SmackDown.
For people in attendance at the Barclays Center, the October 25 2024 edition of SmackDown started at 6:45 P.M. where the show kicked off with Randy Orton cutting a promo. Orton requested that the CCO of WWE Triple H come to the ring to give him and Kevin Owens a one-on-one at Crown Jewel. Triple H was hesitant to give Orton the match at first, but Triple H gave Orton what he wanted, which was a chance at revenge against Kevin Owens.
Special guest referee, LA Knight made his way to the ring as now it was time for Game 7 in the Carmelo Hayes vs. Andrade series. This rivalry has been brewing for weeks, with each tied at three wins a piece against each other. Unfortunately, no winner was decided due to Knight ringing the bell, and declaring himself as the winner because he is the United States Champion.
Tiffany Stratton and Nia Jax are chatting backstage, Stratton offers to help Nia take care of her Naomi problem but Jax tells Stratton that her new friend Candice LeRae really stepped up and she’s going to be facing Naomi.
General Manager of Smackdown Nick Aldis confronted LA Knight backstage, where Aldis booked Knight in a triple threat match for the United States Championship at Crown Jewel against Carmelo Hayes and Andrade.
Candice LeRae came out to the ring with Indi Hartwell as LeRae was getting ready to go one on one with Naomi. As Naomi was outside the ring, Hartwell threw her into the ringpost and back into the ring. Bayley runs down to make the save, to help Naomi pick up the victory against Candice LeRae.
The Undisputed WWE Universal Champion the “American Nightmare” Cody Rhodes and the WWE World Heavyweight Champion the “Ring General” Gunther go face-to-face in the ring before their match next weekend at Crown Jewel to crown the first ever Crown Jewel Champion. Cody dropped Gunther and starts hitting him with right hands until Ludwig Kaiser evens the odds and Imperium gets the better of Cody Rhodes. Gunther hits a lariat to Cody and Randy Orton arrives to even the score.
The next match was #DIY (Johnny Gargano & Tammaso Ciampa) vs. Motor City Machine Guns (Alex Shelley & Chris Sabin) in a WWE Tag Team Championship #1 Contenders Match. The Motor City Machine Guns won by pinfall with their finishing move Skull and Bones on Johnny Gargano to become the #1 contenders for the WWE Tag Team Championships.
The Bloodline (Solo Sikoa, Jacob Fatu, Tama Tonga, and Tonga Loa) made their way to the ring to confront the #1 contenders for Tama Tonga and Tonga Loa’s Tag Team Championships. Nick Aldis warned both teams about trying anything at all. Alex Shelly says they want their tag team championship match right here and right now! Aldis makes the match official…it is Motor City Machine Guns (Alex Shelley & Chris Sabin) vs. The Bloodline (Tama Tonga & Tonga Loa) for the WWE Tag Team Championship.
In an incredible match that saw Jimmy Uso, Roman Reigns, and Jey Uso take down the interference of The Bloodline, the Motor City Machine Guns became the NEW WWE Tag Team Champions. It was surprising as it is their second week on Smackdown. Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin are already holding the gold, signifying that big things are in store for the Motor City Machine Guns on Smackdown!
Post Match, Jey Uso is in the ring and Jimmy Uso returns to get in the ring with him. Jimmy & Jey hug, only meaning one thing…the Usos are back together again! Roman Reigns looks on with a sign of approval from the stage as Smackdown goes off the air, signifying an epic night in Brooklyn.
