Women’s Basketball Falls Short to Rowan

The Montclair State Women’s Basketball team capped off their regular season with a hard fought game against Rowan University on Wednesday night. The Red Hawks battled but fell short, 67-55.

 

Junior standout Megan Duffy paced this Red Hawks squad with 15 points. For the game, Montclair St. knocked down eight three-pointers, with Duffy draining three of them. Duffy added four rebounds to her stats sheet making sure her name was known on both sides of the board.

 

Senior superstar Nickie Carter poured in 14 points, and added three steals, three rebounds, and three assists, in what could be her final game  as a Red Hawk. Shannon Hughes chipped in nine points for her team, while Sophomore Olivia Vero added a team high seven rebounds and two blocks on the night.

 

In the 4th quarter, the Red Hawks shot an exceptional 46.15% field goal, while they shot 33.9% as a whole. They converted 15 points off turnovers, connected 14 team assists, added 37 team rebounds, and seven team steals on the night.

 

Montclair State finishes the season with an overall record of 11 and 14, 8-10 in the NJAC. The loss eliminated the Red Hawks from the upcoming NJAC Conference Tournament, as they finished in 7th place.
