The New York Red Bulls II kick off their 2023 season campaign with a rough ending to a home opener against the Columbus Crew II. They took the lead early on with a Wikelman Carmona goal in the 7’, just to lose the lead in 90+4. Abdi Mohamed tied it up on the last play of the game, scoring off a corner kick. The game went on to penalties, with Columbus coming up on top, winning them 3-2. The Red Bulls still picked up a point to add something to the table. I asked fullback O’vante Mullings what the team could do next week to improve. He said, “Just finish our chances more. We created a lot, and we put them out the back foot, we put some more chances away, and avoid the late situation at the end of the game.”
