The 2024-2025 NFL season has o1icially ended, and what a season it’s been. It was a season with breakout performances, trick plays leaving defenses at a loss, and coordinators becoming hot coaching candidates. All while one team looked to make history, solidifying their NFL dynasty and becoming three-peat Superbowl Champions This year’s Superbowl matchup featured The Philadelphia Eagles and the Kansas City Chief, making it a 2022-2023 season rematch. The Philadelphia Eagles ultimately came out on top in a blow-out match with a score of 40-22.
The Eagle’s o1ense and defense both perform in the first half of the game. The defense pressured Patrick Mahomes, making him uncomfortable and throwing incomplete passes. The Eagle’s o1ense, led by Jalen Hurts, drove down the field with seemingly no real issues. At the end of the first half, the score was 24 – Chiefs 0 for the Eagles. The night wasn’t all about football as Kendrick Lamar took the Halftime Stage and delivered a performance with guest appearances by SZA and Samuel L Jackson, who dressed up as Uncle Sam. The performance included a simple set design, a surprise performance of “They Not Like Us,” and what many on social media say is an “underlying political message.” During the second half, the Eagles further solidified their lead, at one point being 34-0, with the defense holding up and being responsible for multiple sacks on Patrick Mahomes. The Chiefs, however, would not give up and ended the game, putting up 22 points. By the end of the night, Eagles Quarterback Jalen Hurts became the Superbowl MVP with a performance of 221 yards and two touchdowns.
The Chiefs face a heartbreaking loss after an NFL campaign that faced many questions about how good they were. Though they faced many close games this season, their first loss came against the Bills in week 11. However, once the post-season came, a fire seemed to have come alive in their team, who were playing to three-peat for the first time in NFL history.
The Eagles also had bumps on the road to their second Superbowl title. They started the season on a 3-2 record, having come o1 a shocking ending to their 2023-2024 campaign. However, it was all turned around, and the Eagles went on a 9-week win streak, with their only other loss this season coming o1 in week 16 to the Commanders. Now that the Superbowl is over and the season has wrapped up, many teams will look toward rebuilding, strengthening, and building the excitement of the franchise as the 2025-2026 season approaches. Will the Eagles and their team be able to build a dynasty and go for a back-to-back champion, or can the Chiefs bounce back? Will a new team take the league by storm next season? It may seem far in the future, but the road to Superbowl 60 in Santa Clara begins now.
