WMSC Radio Earns 16 National Broadcasting Awards, Including Four First Place Wins

NEW YORK, NY – March 10, 2025 – WMSC Radio achieved significant recognition at the Intercollegiate Broadcasting Systems (IBS) Awards ceremony in New York City this past weekend, earning four first place national awards and finalist distinctions in 12 additional categories for a total of 16 awards.

The station’s strong performance was highlighted by wins in diverse categories spanning drama, community service, sports, and station management.

WMSC’s first place awards include:

  • Best Radio Drama for “The Mysteries of Rathorne III”
  • Best Community Outreach Program for “Trans Day of Visibility in Montclair”
  • Best Sports Play-by-Play in Soccer coverage
  • Best Promotion Director awarded to Shannon Daly, who earned her first win after her second nomination

Additionally, WMSC received finalist recognition in the following prestigious categories:

  • Best Station in the Nation (more than 10,000 students)
  • Best Live Music Broadcast for WMSC Unplugged “Goldie”
  • Best Morning Show for “The Thursday Edition of The Morning Buzz”
  • Best Spot News for “Montclair Film Festival Opening Night Recap”
  • Best Campus-Community News for “Campus Protest Report”
  • Best Podcast for “Maybe Museums Are Actually For Me”
  • Best Giveaway for “The Notebook on Broadway”
  • Best Spot News Interview for “WMSC FOCUS: Does Your Fed Have Your Best Interest in Mind?”
  • Best Show Intro for “Thespian Therapy with Jared Tauber”
  • Best Sports Play-by-Play (Football) for Montclair vs WP
  • Best Business Director for Aly Erario
