Written by Ash Schnoor on April 16, 2026
WMSC 90.3 FM, the student-run radio station at Montclair State University, will celebrate its 59th anniversary on Friday, April 17 with a 24-hour broadcast showcasing original programming, themed shows, live mixes and special appearances throughout the day.

The anniversary broadcast event will feature themed shows, special segments, and live mixes that highlight the creativity and diversity of WMSC’s student staff. The programming reflects both the station’s history and its ongoing role as a platform for student voices. Special appearances throughout the broadcast will include WMSC alumni, Montclair State University officials, along with a special show hosted by WMSC’s advisor and general manager Anabella Poland.
Following Anniversary – Vinylthon
Immediately following the anniversary broadcast, WMSC will launch its annual Vinylthon – a 48-hour, vinyl-only marathon in which every DJ will broadcast exclusively using analog equipment. No digital shortcuts. Just the warm authentic sound of records spinning live on-air.
Vinylthon is part of a broader international initiative celebrating vinyl culture, physical media, and analog sound that coincides with Record Store Day.

“These back-to-back events highlight both the legacy and future of WMSC,” said Anabella Poland, General Manager. “As we approach our 60th anniversary, we’re proud to showcase the passion and innovation of our student DJs while honoring the traditions that shaped college radio.”
