WMSC Broadcasts Montclair Pride Festival 2024

Montclair, NJ- As we are currently in the month of June, it is officially LGBTQ+ Pride Month! 90.3 WMSC Upper Montclair is proud to be broadcasting live from Out Montclair’s Pride Festival on Saturday, June 8th, 2024. This will mark WMSC’s second time broadcasting the event, and bringing all of the fun and exciting aspects of the day straight to our listeners.

“Montclair Pride is such a fun event to attend! I attended last year and it is so welcoming to everyone who walks through. The energy is amazing throughout the entire day,” Santiago Calle Cifuentes, WMSC news team member, said.

Out Montclair is a nonprofit organization located in Montclair, New Jersey that seeks to spread awareness and create a safe space for the LGBTQ+ community for their voices to be heard. Out Montclair was created in April 2021.

The Montclair Pride celebration is just one of the many events Out Montclair holds throughout the year. The first Montclair Pride event was held in June 2022 and topped the second largest Pride event in New Jersey in 2022. Leading into the Pride event in June 2023, which WMSC covered, there were over 26,800 attendees, marking one of the biggest Pride events in the Garden State. 

This year’s festival is presented by Audi Tristate Dealers and will be located in downtown Montclair. The event will run from 12:00-6:00 pm, leading into a Street Dance Party from 6:00-9:30 pm, and the fun doesn’t stop as there will be an After Party from 9:00-1:00 am at the Alto rooftop of The MC Hotel. 

Many sponsors will be in attendance including Montclair State University, The MC Hotel, IKEA, Java Love, Montclair Public Library, Paper Mill Playhouse, and more.

Here are some fun festivities you can look forward to at Montclair Pride 2024!

• Over 9 hours of entertainment across 3 stages (MC Hotel’s Main Stage, The Rainbow Reading Stage, and Open Call Stage)
• Main Stage Talent (Headliner Peppermint, DJ Vito Fun, Pride Choir, the School of Rock Montclair House Band, and many more)
• Rainbow Reading Stage Talent (Jenny Henny as Taylor Swift, Beyond the Boogie, Sunnie, to name a few)
• Open Call Stage will feature amateur performers in the crowd that will display their talents
• Over 190 vendors including local businesses, community organizations, and more!
• Food trucks and vendors will provide delicious food to munch on!
• The Family Zone, sponsored by IKEA, including kid-friendly games and activities!

To hold the event, Bloomfield Avenue traffic from Valley Road to N. Fullerton, Church Street, and Park Street from Church Street to Portland Place will be closed.
