WMSC ANNOUNCES 30-HOUR LIVE MARATHON FOR 2019 COLLEGE RADIO DAY

WMSC FM, Montclair State University’s campus radio station announces a 30-hour marathon of live programming beginning this Thursday, October 3rd for College Radio Day.

The 2019 College Radio Day theme is “Hear it First on College Radio,” highlighting how college radio stations have traditionally provided a platform for local and indie artists and for underrepresented voices to be heard.

“This is my final College Radio Day as a student and when I reflect back into my time at the station, my favorite memories are from organizing, promoting and working events such as College Radio Day, or our anniversary or Vinylthon,” said Hiral Patel, a Political Science major at Montclair State University. “Organizing big scale events is perhaps the best team building activity for our team and it is super fun when it celebrates what we do every day at the station.”

From October 3rd at 7 PM to 1 AM on October 5th, the station will be broadcast exclusive interviews, special new live shows, and live performances. Listeners can expect to hear all of their favorite DJs,  as always, some other events will include the Morning Buzz live from a golf cart, a DJ swap with WSOU, a live dodgeball game against the WSOU & WPSC sports teams featuring play by play, a vinyl-based radio show, golf cart karaoke, and a live political debate, hosted in the School of Communication and Media.

World College Radio Day Greetings from the staff and crew at WMSC-FM

This is the 9th annual College Radio Day and each year the station attempts to outdo the last.

“College Radio Day is the “Super Bowl” of student radio. Our students put a lot of thought and effort behind it.” said Anabella Poland, General Manager at WMSC FM and Vice-President of College Radio Day. “Our hope is to raise awareness of the great work produced by student and highlight college radio’s contribution to the industry”.

WMSC’s CRD 19 is sure to be a lot of fun and features a lot of new ideas, showcasing everything we have to offer. Take a look at our schedule below and tell us what you’re most excited to tune into using the hashtags #CRD19 and #WMSCCRD on all social media platforms!
