The Plot In You performed for the final show of their recent North American tour alongside Holding Absence, Boundaries, and Acres at Webster Hall on March 16th. The Ohio four-piece formed in 2010 and has been making waves in the metalcore scene ever since. The Plot In You continues to cement their spot in the scene and test the limits with new ideas and experimentation in their sound throughout their diverse discography spanning the last decade. Consisting of Landon Tewers (vocalist), Josh Childress (guitarist), Ethan Yoder (bassist), and Michael Cooper (drummer), the band had the crowd so hyped that the floor of Webster Hall started shaking.
The night began with performances by Acres, a UK-based post-hardcore band, and Boundaries, a metalcore band from Hartford, Connecticut. Both of these bands’ sets were absolutely fantastic and got the crowd ready for the night ahead.
Before The Plot In You took the stage, Welsh rock superstars Holding Absence delivered a mind-blowing performance. Vocalist Lucas Woodland is an absolute treasure and his live vocals blew me away. The entire band had insane energy for the duration of their set and definitely got the crowd even more pumped to see The Plot In You by the time they finished.
There is truly nothing I love more than being in the crowd for a metalcore show. From the barricade to the balcony, every single person in that crowd was having the time of their lives. The mosh pits were out-of-this-world insane and I lost count of how many crowdsurfers found themselves in the air (one person had light-up shoes!). Despite it being a Sunday night, the crowd roared on. You could feel the energy radiating off the band and the fans, both parties wanting to absorb every lasting moment.
The Plot In You commanded the room with a captivating performance. Vocalist Landon Tewers’ raw emotions were on full display throughout the night. There was a healthy mix of older songs, “Time Changes Everything” and “THE ONE YOU LOVED,” and the latest tracks from the band, “Been Here Before” and “Pretend.” My favorite song of the night was “Forgotten,” a track from their Vol. 1 EP. The way the venue felt during this song in particular is something I’m not sure I can do justice in describing. The entire crowd was somehow even more energetic for the duration of this performance and the band was embracing every second of it.
Performing to a sold-out 1,500 capacity room on the last night of a cross-country tour is a pretty huge deal. This show was such a fun experience and I can’t wait to catch The Plot In You next time they find their way to New York City.
