Floridian rock band Set It Off brought their Deathless Tour Pt. 2 to The Wellmont Theater right here in Montclair, New Jersey alongside If Not For Me, New Years Day, and From Ashes To New. The band has been amongst some of the most iconic in the scene since the early 2010s, with hits like “Wolf In Sheep’s Clothing (Feat. William Beckett)” and “The Haunting” in their massive discography.
If Not For Me was first to hit the stage. I was extremely excited to see these guys live because they have been one of my favorite discoveries of 2024. Their set was super fun to watch and I had a great time singing along to some of my favorite songs from their latest album Everything You Wanted.
New Years Day was next to grace the stage. They left me absolutely speechless with how killer their stage presence was. New Years Day is one of my favorite female-fronted heavy rock bands in the scene and it was awesome to see Lead Vocalist Ash Costello owning the stage. From Ashes To New was up shortly after, sparking the crowd’s energy even further before Set It Off with a great set.
Set It Off’s been a band I’ve been listening to since my baby emo days back when I was in middle school with a Hot Topic obsession. Finally getting to see them live after all these years of listening to them was truly an awesome experience. The entire band carries themselves on stage with such a fun, fast-paced energy that immediately engages their crowd the second the lights dimmed and the opening introduction videos played.
I genuinely had so much fun during this show. It was really cool to be able to sing along to some classic favorites of mine, like “Why Worry” and “Hypnotized,” and some brand-new releases, including “Punching Bag” and “Killer In The Mirror.” Ash Costello even came back out to perform their iconic 2013 collaboration “Partners In Crime,” which was met with an intense excitement from the crowd. This show was definitely a night to remember and I’m very glad I got to catch Set It Off on this tour.
