AK Concert Review

On Saturday, July 20, I had the opportunity to go to Asbury Park’s House of Independents to see a rapper who goes by the name AK perform. AK comes from South Brunswick, New Jersey and this concert was very geared to his hometown audience, selling South Brunswick themed apparel which seemed very popular.

Arriving at the House of Independents, I could feel the energy in the air that was different than an ordinary concert. Before the show started and between opening acts, the audience could be heard chanting “A-K! A-K” repeatedly.

When AK himself came onto the stage, the lights began to flash, the audience began to roar and the lyrics began to flow. The artist performed his hit songs “Life Like This”, “Love Me” and “Deja Vu”. AK even let the audience into a little secret that “big things are coming” as he travels back to LA to work on his music. What big things are coming remains a mystery, but we will just have to wait and see what this New Jersey rapper will be doing.

AK is a rising success, first coming to the public eye in 2016, with his Panda Remix video on YouTube which now has well over 36 million views. Since then, he has released over a dozen singles which can be found on Spotify, Apple Music, and other major music platforms.
