La La Land in Concert brings Another Day of Sun to Radio City Music Hall

I didn’t think one of my favorite films of all time could get any better. Then I saw La La Land in Concert at Radio City Music Hall, with the film playing alongside a full orchestra conducted by Justin Hurwitz, the Oscar-winning composer himself.
I paid a decent amount of money and had to make my way to New York City and navigate the world of public transportation (special thanks to my girlfriend Vee for handling most of the logistics), but it was absolutely worth it for such an incredible experience.
The orchestra sounded stunning. Spotlights highlighted different performers in sync with key moments in the film, like Seb playing piano in “Mia and Sebastian’s Theme” and the trumpet solo during “Epilogue.” The music felt even more powerful live, especially when layered with the film’s original vocals.
The visuals were just as impressive. Stars filled the theater during “Planetarium,” making the moment feel immersive and dreamlike. I also loved the use of pyrotechnics, with fireworks during “Another Day of Sun” and bursts of fire timed with the lyrics of “Start a Fire.”
Overall, La La Land in Concert was unforgettable and more than worth the ticket price and the long wait in line for a t-shirt. Sharing the experience with a full theater of equally excited fans, many dressed in Mia-inspired yellow outfits, made it even better. While Mia and Sebastian may not have gotten their perfect ending, I certainly did seeing La La Land in Concert.
