Hot Dress performs at Davy Jones Locker in New Brunswick – 11/18/23

Davy Jones Locker in New Brunswick, N.J. hosted a concert featuring four local bands on November 18, 2023. The night started with Sierra Peaks, an alt-rock trio from Central Jersey. Then came Jag One, a hardcore rock and emo band also from Central Jersey. Then came Nematode, a band originally from Philadelphia, PA. The night wrapped up with Hot Dress, an indie band out of East Brunswick, N.J.

This was my first experience at a small local concert like this. I was expecting to be in a venue with a small stage and some lights; instead, I found myself ducking as I walked down into the basement of a house right off of the Cook/Douglass campus at Rutgers University.

My surprise, however, was soon replaced by the excitement of the night. From band members moshing with people in the crowd to the merch table in the back of the room, the experience felt so immersive because of how close I was to the band members. I could have reached out and touched them if I wanted to.

It was a great experience, and I would definitely recommend it to anyone who likes indie and rock music. You can follow Davy Jones Locker on Instagram at @davyjoneslocker_nb to stay up to date on any future concerts they have, and you can follow the bands at the links below.
