Who would I be if I didn’t attend an L.S. Dunes concert? On April 19th, 2025, Dunes came back to their East Coast roots and performed at Warsaw in Brooklyn, New York. With their supporting bands Nights Sins and From Indian Lakes featured on this tour, this show was definitely one of my favorite Dunes shows I have been to.
First to hit the stage was Night Sins. With this performance being my first introduction to this Philadelphia native melodic post-goth band, I can say that I was pleasantly surprised. Their dimly lit stage combined with their lead singer, Kyle Kimball’s, dark and strong vocals truly made this band shine on stage. Heads were bopping, bodies were swaying, and the crowd was ready to hear what was later to come.
Following after Night Sins, California band, From Indian Lakes arrived on stage. To set the vibe, bass player, Chris Kellogg, lit a stick of incense on stage which I greatly appreciated at this point of the night. Their set was full of mellow, indie, and relaxing tunes that was a fun dichotomy compared to what Dunes had in store for later. Lead singer, Joey Vannucchi, had the crowd both swaying and giggling as he went between belting his heart out and explaining how the band came up with their name (they’re from Indian Lakes, CA). All in all, I found From Indian Lakes to be the perfect lead up for Dunes to take the stage.
Finally, the moment came and it was time for L.S. Dunes to rip. As a long term fan of all the members of Dunes, I was ecstatic when they announced they were going on a North American tour for their newest album, “Violet”. This album was such a beautiful listen through and through when it was released back on January 31st, 2025 and hearing it live made it even more of a special record.
Lead singer, Anthony Green, carries such a captivating presence while on stage and engages every single audience member with his vocals. During the song, Benadryl Subreddit, Green threw the mic into the crowd and let the crowd scream their hearts out to the chorus. Guitarist, Frank Iero, shredded the entire night and gave the audience exactly what they expect from a Dunes show. This is my formal thank you note to the sound mixer of that night who turned up Iero’s vocals. Travis Stever, Tim Payne, and Tucker Rule pulled through as the T trio of the band with their palpable energy while performing.
Overall, this night was a perfect performance from L.S. Dunes. “Violet” meant a lot to me when it was released and being able to see one of my favorite bands perform tracks off of such a powerful record was so special.
