On October 22, 2024, Chicago punk rock band, Rise Against, made their way t o The Brooklyn Paramount with supporting acts, Spiritual Cramp and L.S. Dunes. With their self-titled tour only six days in, all three bands definitely showcased their excitement for what is later to come.
Opening the show, Spiritual Cramp had the room come alive from the second they stepped on stage. All six members of the San Francisco band had an insane amount of energy while performing. Lead singer, Mike Bingham not only pulled through with his powerful voice, but also showed his amazing stage presence as well. Overall this band’s sound was extremely fun to hear and their performance was captivating to say the least.
Keeping the night going, iconic rock band L.S. Dunes took the stage and the room immediately lit up. This band had just come off the high of performing at one of the most popular rock festivals, When We Were Young Fest, just the weekend before and yet still provided the performance of a lifetime. Lead singer Anthony Green of Circa Survive has a voice that is truly unique and made the audience keep their eyes glued to the stage. Legendary guitarist Frank Iero, known for his work in the widely known American rock band My Chemical Romance, never had a dull moment on stage. Iero’s energy has always been hard to deny and this night was no exception. Bassist Tim Payne of the band Thursday and guitarist Travis Stever of Coheed and Cambria shredded on their instruments throughout the night making stage right extremely fun to watch. Finally, drummer Tucker Rule of Thursday showcased his undeniable talent as he tore up his kit during their set.
To make this night special for New York, L.S. Dunes decided to play their new song, “Machines” for the first time in anticipation for their album, Violet, set to drop in January. In addition to the rest of their set, this song was an amazing feature and was so much fun to hear live. For many months I had been anticipating seeing L.S. Dunes live for the first time in my life and I can truly say this was the best performance I could have ever asked for.
To close the night, Rise Against made their way onto stage and the energy they had was felt immediately. Their song “Architects” was both an emotional yet lively song that had the crowd screaming every word. Lead vocalist Tim Mcllrath was clearly having such a fun time while performing and their audience definitely shared that feeling as well. The barricade was screaming, the crowd was moving, and the band never slowed down. Rise Against’s sound on this tour has been very fresh, captivating, and overall exactly what the people want from a rock show. This night at The Brooklyn Paramount was nothing short of a great time and I will definitely be back to see all three of these bands when they return to the east coast.
