90.3 WMSC FM · MSU Students react to Daddy Yankee RetirementReggaeton artist Daddy Yankee announces he will retire after 32 years of music. Yankee, known for hits like “Gasolina”, “Despacito”, and “Dura”, notified on his social media that he will end his artistic endeavors with his final album and tour. 

 

“Today, I’m announcing my retirement from music by giving you my best production and my best concert tour”, said Daddy Yankee. “I will say goodbye celebrating these 32 years of experience with this new collector’s item, the album ‘Legendaddy’. I’m going to give you all the styles that have defined me, in one single album”.

Born as Ramón Ayala Rodríguez, he praised the fans for helping him become one of the most important artists in the world and making Reggaeton a global tendency. 

“People say that I made Reggaeton global, but it was you (the fans) who gave me the keys to open the doors to make this genre the biggest one in the world”, said the artist. “I confess that this is the biggest treasure I can have in my career”.
