On Friday, March 23, Matt and Kim started off their comeback tour at Starland Ballroom. After a year of being unable to tour because Kim had torn her ACL and meniscus during their last show, the couple were more than ecstatic to be back! The night started off with Twinkids; a duo who wore space like shirts and enjoyed the fact they were on stage. Cruisr was up next, their sound a typical punk pop angst. Then came Matt and Kim. And Oh My God did they put on a show. Being that is was their first night on their first tour back since Kim’s accident, the couple were all over the place, not following their set list, and talking to us after every song. I have never seen a band so excited and giddy to be back doing what they love most. They threw out balloons for the audience to blow up and play with, Kim egged on the audience surprised there was no crowd surfers (of course after her comment half the crowd did), and they popped confetti at us multiple times.

Kim had the biggest smile on her face the entire night, and Matt could not stop looking at his beautiful wife. The two were slightly raunchy, definitely not for younger kids, but hysterical. Kim played her drum set at one point with two giant dildos… get what I mean now? They played a wide variety of songs including a song off their first album that they hadn’t played in years. I really appreciated that they sounded like how they do on their recordings. It’s a big pet peeve of mine when artists sound completely different live. The couple put on one of the best shows I have ever seen playing favorites like “Get It” and “Daylight”. If you ever need a pick me up and want to see a band with an outrageous amount of energy and love, Matt and Kim is the way to go!
