Arrows in Action continued their Back to Life Tour with a stop at New Jersey’s Asbury Lanes on July 6, 2024. Consisting of lead singer Victor Viramontes-Pattison, guitarist Matt Fowler, and drummer Jesse Frimmel, the pop-rock trio have come a long way since forming the band in college and their reign has only just begun.

Support for this tour included Elliot Lee and New Jersey native Brooke Alexx. I actually got to catch Elliot Lee last year when they toured with Waterparks and it was awesome to see how much they’ve grown as a performer since.

The energy in the venue became unreal once Arrows in Action stepped out on stage. The second the first song began, you could feel the passion the band has for performing and how genuinely excited they were to give the crowd a memorable experience.

The setlist was filled with a mix of songs from their debut record Built to Last, some older fan favorites, and their two newest singles, “Hello Sunlight!” and “Cold.” My favorites of the night were “This Time,” “Failing on Purpose,” and my favorite song of theirs, “Entropy.” They admitted to having a hard time picking what songs made the cut, which led to a fan vote for either “Compromise” or “Permanent Vacation” from their 2021 EP Be More. “Permanent Vacation” took the crown here, which was exciting for me since I wrote about that song for an edition of WMSC Music Picks a few months back.

If you think Arrows in Action are good while watching them through your phone screen, buckle up for seeing them live because they are truly unlike any other. Viramontes-Pattison left me speechless at times with how amazing his vocals sounded, especially on songs like “All The Ways I Could Die” and “The Credits.” Their talent is truly unbelievable and the love they have for what they do is unmatched.

The whole crowd was jumping, singing, dancing, and even had a few people crowd surfing throughout the show. The night was also filled with plenty of jokes, roughly 10 guitar solos, and claimed that New Jersey has the best bagels (Author note: I’m from New York and we have the best bagels. sorry not sorry). This show was such a fun one to attend and I can’t wait to catch them next time when they fulfill their promise of returning!
