WMSC Radio Scores 16 National Nominations in Collegiate Competition

MONTCLAIR, NJ – Montclair State University’s student radio station, WMSC-FM,  has been recognized with an impressive 16 national award nominations by the Intercollegiate Broadcasting System Awards, highlighting the station’s exceptional programming and talent across multiple categories.

The nominations span a diverse range of content, from live music broadcasts to community outreach events, showcasing the breadth and depth of WMSC’s student-driven media productions. Standout nominations include Best Live Music Broadcast, Best Morning Show, and Best Campus-Community News, demonstrating the station’s commitment to engaging and informative programming.

Notable individual recognitions include Shannon Daly receiving her second consecutive nomination for Best Promo, and Aly Erario also earning her second nomination for Best Business Director.

Key nominated categories include:

  • Best Station in the Nation (more than 10,000 students)
  • Best Live Music Broadcast: WMSC Unplugged
  • Radio Drama: Mysteries of Rathorne 3
  • Best Morning Show: “the Thursday Edition of The Morning Buzz”
  • Best Community Outreach Event: “Trans Day of Visibility in Montclair”
  • Best Spot News: “Montclair Film Festival Opening Night Recap”
  • Best Campus-Community News: “Campus Protest Report”
  • Best Podcast: “Maybe Museums Are Actually For Me”

The winners will be announced at the Intercollegiate Broadcasting System Conference and Awards in New York City on March 8.

“These nominations reflect the incredible talent, creativity, and dedication of our student broadcasters,” said General Manager, Anabella Poland. “Each nomination represents not just a student’s individual achievement, but the collaborative ecosystem of support, innovation, and hands-on learning that defines the Montclair State communication arts experience”

The student-operated station has more than 850 current undergraduate students that participate in radio, 88 shows, 24 student leaders and more than 150 disc-jockeys and contributors. 

 “We’re proud to showcase the diverse voices and stories of our campus and local Northern New Jersey community through innovative radio programming,” said student station manager, Jared Tauber.
