Happy St. Patrick’s Day and a very happy birthday to Hozier who, at midnight, released his new EP, Eat Your Young.

Best known for his 2013 debut single “Take Me To Church,” the Irish King has struck gold once again!

Eat Your Young follows Hozier’s 2019 second album, Wasteland, Baby! He has since released several singles, including 2022’s “Swan Upon Leda,” and the God of War Ragnarök video game song, “Blood Upon the Snow.”

The artist took to Twitter with a tour announcement with tickets going live on March 24th. The Unreal Unearth album tour will be Hozier’s first North American tour since 2019. [Link to Tweet]

I was fortunate enough to see him on his tour for Wasteland, Baby! on July 26, 2019, in Camden, NJ, and with a voice as good live as it is recorded, it is no surprise that this EP is phenomenal. Eat Your Young is a stunning, yet short, collection of songs that showcase the Irish singer-songwriter’s raw talent, soulful voice, and poetic lyrics. The three songs examine gluttony, heresy, and loss with blazing soul power.

The EP opens with the haunting “Eat Your Young,” a powerful track that explores themes of gluttony, indulgence, and lust with an intensity that is both mesmerizing and unsettling. The song’s driving rhythm and soaring chorus create a sense of urgency that draws the listener in and refuses to let go.

The second track, “All Things End,” takes a more mellow route, yet, the spine-chilling gospel tones are enough to give you chills.

“Through Me (The Flood)” showcases Hozier’s ability to blend blues, folk, gospel, and rock influences into a sound that is uniquely his own.

Each song is a carefully crafted gem, with lyrics that are both introspective and deeply emotional.

Overall, Eat Your Young is a stunning achievement that showcases the singer’s remarkable talent and creativity. With its powerful lyrics, soulful vocals, and haunting melodies, this EP is a must-listen for anyone who appreciates great music.

I, for one, cannot wait for the full album and will definitely be purchasing a ticket for this tour.
