With a guitar, ukulele, piano, and an accordion, Julieta Venegas gave an amazing performance at the Palladium Theater in Times Square.
Promoting her new album Tu Historia, Julieta Venegas had a packed venue with Latinos from different parts of the tri-state area. So, she knew she needed to start with a bang by playing “En Tu Orilla,” a song about a person who always promises to be on your side.
Venegas played some of her greatest hits like “Te Vi,” “Andar Conmigo,” “Bien o Mal,” “Algo está cambiando” and “Me Voy.” She has a way of playing a joyful tune that has the audience singing and dancing, and then making us melancholic with a heart-wrenching song.
One of the highlights of the show was when she sang a cover of “Canta, canta, canta” by José Alfredo Jiménez, and the crowd sang the chorus while she continued the melody. Another highlight would be when she spoke to the audience about what she was thinking when she wrote a specific song.
“La Nostalgia,” a song for those Latinos who didn’t appreciate their homes until they had to leave them, was a song that played on the heartstrings.
She sang her verse in the Bad Bunny song “Lo Siento BB:/” and then switched to “Eres Para Mi,” a song about how a couple is meant to be together. She ended the night with “Limón y Sal,” a song where she admits that your boyfriend or girlfriend is not perfect but you love them just the way they are.
