TTNG Concert Review

On Tuesday, October 16th at Brooklyn Bazaar I saw TTNG (FKA This Town Needs Guns) perform their seminal album Animals in its entirety. Not only did they play their best album, they did it with their original vocalist, Stuart Smith. He left the band in 2010 to many fans dismay (including myself), and was replaced by Henry Tremain.

Anyway, they ripped through every song of Animals with ease and perfection. Stu’s vocals were just like they were when the album was released a decade ago, flawless. For their encore they played three tracks off of their self titled album, including fan favorites “26 Is Dancier Than 4” and “If I Sit Still, Maybe I’ll Get Out of Here”. Fans loved every second of the show, shouting every lyric and begging for more. I for one, am glad to have gotten to see one of the most important math rock bands of the last decade perform with their original (and best) vocalist. My only qualm is that they didn’t play my favorite track from their catalogue, “Adventure, Stamina & Anger”. As my dad used to say, “Maybe one day when you’re older.” Thanks for doing this for the fans, and thanks for coming back for one last tour Stu.
