On Saturday, August 15th, WMSC was lucky enough to attend the first Pinelands Music Festival, which took place at the New Jersey Motorsports Park in Millville, NJ. Even though it was the first year, the music festival pulled out all of the stops to make it just as fun as veteran music festivals.
With a line-up of 29 bands between 3 different stages, this was not a small festival by any means. Many of the bands that played were playing at home in New Jersey or in their own tri-state area. Some of the locals were The Early November, A Great Big Pile of Leaves, Vacationer, and Your Persona, as well as others. The Pinelands Music Festival also brought in bands from other sides of the country, including acts like Hellogoodbye and The Spill Canvas.
Not only was there great music, but scattered throughout the area were food trucks, merchandise tents, promotional tents, and even go-karting! Whether you wanted a pb&j, falafel, or granola, the Pinelands Music Festival had you covered. One of the standout tents at the festival was a vinyl shop. There were boxes and boxes of records you could buy, many costing only a dollar!
Throughout the day, it was clear that everyone was having a blast, either watching a band from the crowd, listening from a lawn between stages, or just enjoying the company. If you weren’t able to go this year, make sure to get your tickets to the 2016 Pinelands Music Festival early so you don’t miss out! It’s definitely broken some ground and we’re sure it’ll be even greater next year. Don’t forget to watch wmscradio.com for exclusive interviews with some of the bands that played the festival!
