In the Montclair State women’s basketball regular season finale on Wednesday night, 90.3 WMSC-FM was on hand to witness the Red Hawks make history. The 2015-2016 season featured many ups and many downs which featured season ending injuries, struggling slumps, and at some points questions on whether the Red Hawks would even make the playoffs. Wednesday night was the culmination of 8 straight wins and the Red Hawks worked there way back to the #1 seed in this year’s New Jersey Athletic Conference playoff tournament with a 59-53 over Stockton University at the Panzer Athletic Center. Guard Katie Sire shot 6-14 from the field scoring 18 points and guard Zoe Curtis recorded 7 rebounds on the night. With this win, Montclair State and Rowan University ended the regular season in a tie for first place, which resulted in a coin flip for home court advantage which was won by the Red Hawks. The Red Hawks will begin their postseason run and quest to return to the NCAA Division III final four on Tuesday, February 23 at 7 PM at the Panzer Athletic Center in the NJAC Women’s semi finals against the winner of the NJAC quarterfinal matchup between Kean University and William Paterson University which will take place on Saturday, February 20. The NJAC Semi Final can be heard on 90.3 WMSC-FM, online at wmscradio.com and on the iHeartRadio app. Stay tuned to WMSC and follow @wmscsports on twitter for full coverage of the Red Hawks postseason run.
