It’s official! The new iPhone 7’s have arrived. As of the 16th of September, Apple has begun shipping the “new” iPhone. However is it really new? Let’s look at what’s been added starting off with the speed. According to Apple’s official website, the new iPhone 7’s new processor is twice as fast as the iPhone 6 because of their new quad-core A10 Fusion processor. Not only does it have the speed, but it also has the battery life. Apple claims that the new iPhone 7 has the best battery life and power of all other products, even including the iPad Pro. According to Geekbench results, they placed this product above Apple’s own iPad Pro.

Like always the iPhone will come in the stock silver, gold and rose gold but Apple has introduced all new black and jet black finishes claiming that the iPhone 7 is now splash and water resistant. Another huge part of the new iPhone is the home button. Using an all-new Taptic Engine, the home button gives you even more precise readings and can even be customizable.

The new iPhone 7 also comes with a huge improvement on the cameras. However, the iPhone 7 comes with a 12-megapixel camera, but the iPhone 7 Plus comes with a dual-camera system, that comes with wide-angle and a telephoto lens too. Don’t worry though, Apple has given both devices optical image stabilization. That means it will reduce blur when the owner is moving the camera or has shaky hands. Both devices even get an all-new front facing camera that can perform HD FaceTimes.

The most controversial part of the iPhone 7 is the removal of the headphone jack, but Apple includes new EarPods that connect to your charging jack. If that doesn’t suit one’s needs, the iPhone 7 comes with a 3.5mm headphone jack adapter that allows you to use your old headphones. With that, Apple has introduced the AirPods that will come out separately in late October. The new wireless headphones use a W1 chip which Apple claims will change the way we think of wireless connectivity.

Students on campus had different views on the features that the new iPhone 7 has to offer.

Cesar Ventura Gonzalez-Rosario Jr. said “The new iphone 7 is disappointing. They took the jack off and i don’t like it. Tim Cook is a pale shadow of Steve Jobs, he’s trying way too hard.”

With an opposing view, Joselo Prado praised the new device.

“Every new iPhone has always set new quality standards for the premium smartphone market, this year is no different; the iPhone 7 is as close you can to the perfect smartphone,” he said.

Although there are different perspectives of the new phone, people are still ordering it and it is only a matter of time before Apple and its competitors come out with more products in the future.
