Juan is a senior studying English and Journalism. He’s created and helped develop programming such as “The Morning Buzz”, “Commuter Corner”, “MSU Newsroom” and “Media Download”. Juan is also an aspiring journalist, having covered political figures such as Cory Booker, Bernie Sanders and President Barack Obama. You can always find him working on new projects and making sure the station delivers amazing content. Radio is his passion, and he is so proud to have represented WMSC at national conferences, major news events, and even the White House!
Natasha is a senior studying Communication and Media Arts. She found her way to WMSC during her sophomore year and has since worked in production, news and programming. She’s a producer for “The Morning Buzz” and also hosted her own show titled “The Love Buzz”. She is very focused on always putting her best out there and nothing less. As Program Director she hopes to continue working closely with DJs and staff to help make WMSC’s content the best it can be.
Christian Curatola is a sophomore at majoring in TV Production and History. He is now taking on the role of Assistant Programming Director, his third assistant position after Engineering and Production. He is a host on “The Morning Buzz” and “This Week in History” WMSC’s only history based talk show. He can’t wait to bring all of his past experiences to the programming department.
Sean is a junior majoring in sports media and journalism at MSU, Sean has spent most of his time with the station’s sports team during his first two years. His experience as an online sportswriter and WMSC radio personality led him to the web and social media team, where he manages the @WMSCSports and other social media accounts. He is excited to take the role of Web Director and will continue to strive to do the best he can for WMSC.
Sugeily is a junior at Montclair State University, studying Public Relations with a minor in Business and Leadership Through Civic Engagement. She joined WMSC last year as a news team contributor for “The Morning Buzz” and is very excited to be the new Assistant Web and Social Media Director. She loves all things media and hopes to someday work in the field where she can research and report news. She also loves to watch a lot of tv shows, read books and travel to new places.
Sammie is a graduating senior studying TV Production. Her dream after graduation is to be on camera as a reporter or a talk show host. With her passion for news, she has covered events on and off campus and has interviewed former astronaut Mark Kelly, producer Kahane Cooperman, and “Nightly News” anchor Lester Holt. Sammie enjoys meeting new people and loves to be as close to a giraffe as she can get. She is sad to be graduating in May and will miss her WMSC family, but she is super eager to begin her next chapter in the television industry. “Keep Moving Forward.” -Walt Disney
Lataya is a south jersey native, a journalism major, and aspiring news anchor. She joined the station fall semester of 2014, during her freshman year. She went right to the news team and became a news analyst on The Morning Buzz. She has been doing that ever since, and luckily enough this year gets to share the position of news director! She is so excited to see what we do this year, news is more exciting than you know!
Nick is a junior Television and Digital Media major with a concentration in Audio. In his role, he handles live broadcasts and board operations. His love for technology and knack for repairing technology has lead him to where he is today with WMSC.
Sean is a junior Television and Digital Media major with a concentration in Sports Media and Journalism. Sean is a huge sports fan, especially when it comes to the New York Mets and Dallas Cowboys. Sean joined WMSC in the fall of 2014 and has had a passion for sports broadcasting his entire life. Sean hosts his own sports show on the station called “SMC Sports” and is also a co-host for “The Morning Buzz.”
Sam is a junior here at Montclair, majoring in Television and Digital Media, with a Sports Media and Journalism concentration. He’s been at WMSC from the first day he got to Montclair State, so becoming Assistant Sports Director is like a dream come true. Sam also co-hosts his sports talk show, Double F Sports, with Nicholas Flaherty. You can always pick Sam out of a crowd because of his long hair and the fact that he seems to only own clothes that sport the Detroit Red Wings on them. Sports is his passion and pretty much determines his happiness, and he hopes to use that passion to make a career in radio for a long time.
Mike flourishes most when he is caught with his headphones on full blast, and can’t hear anyone at all. He also promotes the station by creating events and reaching out to promoters and venues to establish great partnerships for WMSC and our audience. He can be found attending live shows in NJ or NYC and wants to talk/jam about math rock and post rock with you. Mike is excited to promote small local bands and create shows on campus so that our station can bring light to these incredible bands and individuals.
Leslie is an undeclared sophomore, but plans to major in Television and Digital Media with a concentration in Journalism. She dreams of working at a radio station or being a news anchor in New York. She has a love for quotes and enjoys being positive. Leslie joined WMSC her freshman year, and is now the Assistant Promotions Director. She will be co-hosting “Rad Indie Vibes” with Heather Rivera, and is also involved in the programming and production team here at the station. WMSC has allowed Leslie to grow as a person and to try new things. She is thankful to be a part of the WMSC family, and is happy to be surrounded by individuals that have the same dreams she does.
Heather is a graduating senior majoring in Television and Digital Media, with a Television Production concentration. She joined WMSC over a year ago, and is very excited to be the new Music Director. You can find Heather on campus with either a camera or her headphones on. She loves many different things such as watching tv shows, and making videos, but music is something that has always been very important to her. Heather co-hosts a music show on Tuesdays called “Rad Indie Vibes” and is a co-host for “The Morning Buzz.” She hopes to use her love and passion for music to help give WMSC a unique alternative sound no other station has.
Austin is a junior at Montclair, majoring in Television and Digital Media, with a Sound/Audio concentration. He’s been at WMSC since his sophomore year starting as an ADJ and working his way to Music Librarian. He hosts Indie Nation and has experience with engineering. Austin looks forward to giving WMSC a unique indie sound.
Michael Grippa is a senior at Montclair State University pursuing a B.A. in Theatre Studies. Previously, Michael was majoring in Theatre Production & Design with a focus in Sound Design & Engineering serving as Sound Designer on productions at Montclair State, such as The Drunken City and The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee. He has been a member of WMSC since his freshman year and currently in his second run as the Production Director at WMSC. Upon graduating, Michael’s goal is to learn about audio work in all facets of entertainment and looks to continue to produce quality radio here at WMSC.
Melissa is a senior Television and Digital Media major with a concentration in Television Production. She is also a Business minor. Melissa joined WMSC in Spring 2014 as a member of the programming team. Her love for entertainment news led her to become an entertainment contributor for “The Morning Buzz”. She has covered the Montclair and Brooklyn Film Festivals, New York Comic Con, and has interviewed an Academy Award Winner Documentary Filmmaker.
Ms.Poland serves as General Manager of WMSC-FM. Before joining Montclair State University, Ms. Poland was Director of Talent & Industry Relations at SiriusXM Radio where she negotiated and managed interviews, events and performances with A-level Hollywood actors, celebrities and musicians for more than 135 SiriusXM channels. Prior to joining SiriusXM, she was a Segment Producer at ABC News Good Morning America where she booked and produced breaking news, cultural stories, entertainment and the summer concert series. Her work has also appeared on ABC World News, 20/20 and Nightline. She often contributed stories to abcnews.com and to the first network initiative aimed at Hispanic audiences, ABC News Exclusiva. Ms. Poland continues her work as a US correspondent for “El Exprimidor,” an award-winning news and current events radio show in Argentina. As an on-air talent since 2002, she has reported on three US Presidential Elections, the Afghanistan and Iraq Wars, relevant breaking news, feature stories and entertainment news. She served on the Community Advisory Board (CAB) for WFUV, the public radio station licensed to Fordham University, for five years. Ms. Poland brings to MSU a unique combination of extensive experience in broadcast journalism, content development, programming, music discovery and production, social media, film and professional contacts that span the globe.
